P2V Tool for Red Hat KVM Virtualization Introduced
Virt-P2V is a tool that converts physical machines to virtual machines under KVM. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3 beta debuts virtualization tool "Red Hat has opened the beta for its Enterprise Linux (RHEL) distribution. Version 6.3 includes several updates and introduces a virtualization tool, Virt-P2V. The company said Virt-P2V streamlines the 'conversion of physical Windows or Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems into virtual images to be deployed as KVM guests inside Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization.' RHEL 6.3 also increases virtual CPU number from 64 to 160 and increases the memory limit for KVM guests from 512 GB to 2 TB. The beta introduces a new developer tool, OpenJDK7, and updates to file system support, storage options, security and hardware compatibility."
